When people think of furniture, they usually focus on aesthetics and ergonomics. But there is a third, invisible dimension that has a profound impact on our daily lives: the air we breathe in. Most of us spend nearly 90% of our lives indoors, where pollutant levels can be two to five times higher than outdoors.
At Benel, our obsession with Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) isn’t a recent trend or a marketing pivot; it’s a technical commitment that has defined our engineering and material sourcing for over a decade.
A Journey That Started in 2010
Our path towards clean air began more than 13 years ago. In 2013, we secured our first GREENGUARD certification for 26 of our flagship office chairs. At that time, IAQ was a niche concern in the furniture manufacturing industry, but we recognised it as a challenge the industry needed to address. We didn’t stop at a single milestone. We kept our promise, rigorously maintaining and renewing our certifications every year since.
For more than a decade, Benel has been looking beyond the visible components of furniture to understand the invisible environment around them.

More Than a Decade of Compiled Intelligence
Thirteen years of testing has built us a massive internal knowledge base. We are busy meticulously curating a “clean” material pool and refining our production methods.
It takes time and money to develop and explore in such rigorous ways, but as a company, we value health and well-being above all else.
While cheaper alternatives might physically look the same, the frightening fact is that the invisible is what’s infecting the air we breathe.
At Benel, we don’t just sell furniture.
We provide peace of mind knowing that the products we put in your space contribute to a healthier, more productive indoor environment. After all, a chair should support your back, but it should never compromise your lungs.
